Can the person who closes a corrective action also approve it?

This is one of the questions auditors ask most often, and "we closed it" is not an answer. Closing a corrective action is a decision, and the person making that decision is expected to be someone other than the person who did the work. On paper this looks easy; in practice the same person often performs and signs, because the system never separated the two. The separation has to live in the record: closure should pass through an approval step, and the record should say who approved it. In SenSight QMS the closure request enters an approval chain, and the approver, the step and the date stay on the record.
